Pool Party 7/25 and Canoeing 8/8

We've had some water fun to cool off this summer. First, the girls organized a pool party at the community aquatic center. Somehow there is only one photograph of the event.

Remembering St. Brendan, patron of boating, we honed our rowing skills in the Grand Basin of Forest Park navigating canoes around fountains and under bridges. All returned safely to shore!

Canoeing 7/19/20

The first venture of our Little Flowers Club was canoeing on the Grand Basin at Forest Park. The girls earned St Brendan boating badges. To earn the badge, they learned about St Brendan, water safety, how to identify the parts of a canoe, and different paddle strokes. They tried their hand at paddling canoes around the basin. St Brendan the Voyager was an Irish saint and monk that lived in the 500s. He helped spread the message of the Gospel across the seas. He is the patron of mariners and his feast day is May 16.
