Acceptance Petal Meeting

For the virtue of Acceptance, the girls learned about St Josephine Bakhita and her native country of Sudan, Africa. To practice accepting, girls played rounds of "Thomas Says" instead of Simon for Thomas' role in bringing Christianity to Africa. We were excited to learn that one of the merging parishes in the area have adopted the name of St Bakhita.

We thought about how Mary accepted hard things in her life as well as we studied her seven sorrows. We made Seven Sorrows Shortcakes and talked about turning our thorns into sweet roses through God's grace.

We also served the parish by burning the leftover palms branches that have accumulated over the years. Because they were blessed, they had to be burned or buried, so we bundled them and reduced them to ashes. Then we placed them in our blessed fire pit in front of church.

Horseback riding patches were distributed and the girls shared about their experience and learned about St Martin of Tours, patron of horseback riders.

We blessed and labeled the Advent Candles soon to be available for purchase.

We prayed a decade of the rosary for the babies we have spiritually adopted.

St Bakhita, Pray for Us!
