Industry Petal Meeting & Campfire 11/15/20

We had our entire troop plus a guest present for our third petal meeting. Although we were down a leader due to health. We met at a park pavilion on a chilly November Sunday afternoon. The virtue of industry is the work we do for God. It is also known as service. We decorated Little Flower aprons as a sign of our willingness to serve God by serving others. The girls were very industrious in working to complete the task by painting, cleaning up, and helping others with their work. We will return your beautiful aprons after they are washed and ironed. Be sure to wear when serving as a Little Flower whenever aprons are needed.

We learned about St. Frances Xavier Cabrini (Mother Cabrini) and all the work she did for God by being an obedient missionary and overcoming her fears to do good works. She is the patron saint for immigrants and her feast day is November 13.  We talked about the chores we do for our families and the service we do for our community. Like our patron, St. Thérèse, we hope to offer God all our little ways as a sign of great love. We wondered about what vocation God might be calling us to. We will pray about that and listen for God to speak to our hearts about the work he'd like for us to do.

The flower for industry is the daffodil because it works hard in the cold winter to become one of the first signs of spring. The daffodil is a part of the narcissus family. We planted them for the virtue of truthfulness. We will watch for them to bloom in March and recognize their industrious nature.

We worked to memorize the scripture verse, "Whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me". -Matthew 25:40

Next, we warmed up by the campfire and cooked our own dinner.

Pray well, play well, and work well.

Everyone earned their industry petal, but we forgot to give them out. We will return them with the aprons next time we meet.

Thank you to all the girls who have been working hard and exhibiting the virtue of Industry by helping to sell Advent candles after all the Masses in November and also to family and friends. We have sold well over half our supply. We have more slots available. Sign up here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0d4baaab2aa1fbc34-advent

You can share this link for online sales: https://stplittleflowers.wixsite.com/website/advent-candles

Our next scheduled activity will be serving the parish by working at the Christmas tree lot on December 6th (feast of St. Nicholas!). We hope to combine this with a Forget-Me-Not petal meeting about piety and St. Cecilia.
