St. Louis Riverfront and Arch Adventure

We had a wonderful riverfront adventure exploring the Museum of Westward Expansion beneath the Arch. The girls earned Junior Ranger badges by interacting with the exhibits from the 1700s to the building of the Arch in the 1960s.

The patron saint of travelers and transportation is St. Christopher. His feast day was July 25th. The early pioneers and indigenous people certainly needed his prayers with all the hardships they encountered. The girls also worked on map skills and learned about modes of transportation through the last few hundred years. St. Christopher is usually shown carrying the child Jesus on his shoulders because of a story of how he carried Him across a river. We discussed how we can be "Christ Bearers," like Christopher.

Next, we travelled upon the mighty Mississippi taking a riverboat cruise aboard the Tom Sawyer.
